British National Anthem

Here is the story, in only 200 words, of the night of the attack upon Fort McHenry during the Battle of Baltimore in 1814. As the British attacked throughout a long night, Frances Scott Key watched from a boat. In the morning, the flag that was "as large as the side of a barn" still flew. Overcome with emotion, Key hastily scribbled down the words that filled his heart that morning. That poem became our national anthem, "The Star Spangled Banner." Included in the book are the words to our national anthem along with the instruction that "when we hear "The Star Spangled Banner," we stand, remove our hats, and place our right hands over our hearts. This will honor our country." Delightful and colorful art by Nancy Munger make this a little book toddlers will love as they also learn about the history of our country.
